High Speed Steel
We
supply good quality High Speed Steel products that can with stand
very high temperatures. Our high speed steel bars of their fine quality
are extensively used for cutting purposes. The
high speed steel sheets are supplied by us at most feasible rates. This
contributes to our praiseworthy stance among high speed steel in the
country.We are
on second position among the principal high speed steel suppliers India.
The term 'high speed steel' was derived from the fact that it is capable
of cutting metal at a much higher rate than carbon tool steel and
continues to cut and retain its hardness even when the point of the tool
is heated to a low red temperature. Tungsten is the major alloying
element but it is also combined with molybdenum, vanadium and cobalt in
varying amounts. Although replaced by cemented carbides for many
applications it is still widely used for the manufacture of taps, dies,
twist drills, reamers, saw blades and other cutting tools.
For mordern industrial production, particularly mass production,
machining is one of the most important shaping and forming processes.
Almost all tools employed for this purpose are made from high speed
steels.
In recent
times, the use of high speed steels has also gained increasing
importance for chipless shaping, eg. for extrusion, blanking and
punching tools.
With
regard to chemical composition, distinction made between W-, Mo- and
W-Mo alloyed steel grades which, depending on the dominant stress they
will be exposed to contain different amounts of carbon, vanadium and
cobalt.
Applications
-
High performance cutting tools (dies and
punches), blanking and punching tools. Thread roling dies, drawing,
deep drawing and extrusion tools. Cold rolls for multiple roll stands,
measuring tools, plastic moulds.

-
Highly stressed hot work tools such as
mandrels, dies and containers for metal tube and rod extrusion; hot
extrusion tools, tools for the manufacture of screws, nuts, rivets and
bolts; die casting tools, forming dies; die inserts; hot shear blades.
-
High stressed components with large cross
sections for automotive and mechanical engineering, such as connecting
rods, gear shafts, crank shafts, heavy forging such as rotors, shafts
and discs.
-
Components with large cross sections
requiring high toughness and core strength, such as gears,
crankshafts, heavy duty gear shafts in aircraft and truck construction
and mechanical engineering, rock drill bits.
-
Intake valves, stems for bi-metal valves.
- Highly stressed exhaust and intake
valves.
The characteristic properties of all high speed steel grades includes
-
High
working hardness
-
High
wear resistance
-
High
retention of hardness and red hardness
-
Excellent toughness
